If I'm a GM, I would look at that and say, "I don't want a guy like that on my team, because he cares more about himself than the rest of the team." How are the Bears players going to respond if he tries that garbage? I don't care how talented you are, if you don't care about being part of the team, FROM DAY ONE, you will not have the respect from your fellow teammates. If he really tries this, it will screw him up and the Bears team.

It's not going to make a difference. Unlike "team players" who answered before you need to realize that Briggs is trying to get the money he has earned. Football is a dangerous business, what if he gets injured next year no one will say anything about how bad of an employer the Bears are. It is very rare for a family to get a talented athlete, Briggs is probably being counted on to help support his parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, kids, and grand kids for generations to come. Ok so dont day he doesn't play for the love of the game, he loves to play but he doesn't want to take a risk with his "once in a family" talent, when he could be getting the financial reassurance he has worked so hard for. "Classy" organizations recognize this and pay their employees fairly.

Just look at people like Randy Moss and Terrell Owens... no matter what you do as long as you're a good player and back up all the hype around you people will jump at the chance to snatch you away as soon as you because free. Just look at Deion Branch last year, he didn't want to play for the Pats anymore and threatened to sit out, next thing you know he's a Seahawk before the season starts.
Personally Lance Briggs sitting out doesn't bother me one bit because he's just the first one to realize that that team is going nowhere as long as Grossman is their quarterback and they made NO efforts to make a change at that position in the offseason so he's out. I don't blame the guy at all, whats the point of playing your heart out and risking a career ending injury if you're not happy with the team you're playing for and just want out. Nobody will want him if he gets seriously injured, just look at Terrance Murphy, a once good return man for the Green Bay Packers.

i am with briggs on this one. He's one of the top defensive players in the entire league and deserves an extension with more money instead of the franchise tag. I have been against the franchise tag from day one because it makes players stay on a team even if they dont want to. If i were in his shoes i would do the same thing, and if the gm's around the league dont understand that then they should look for another job

He is making a huge mistake. Unless he gets injured. If he gets injured this year, then he is doing the right thing.
I don't think that Briggs's value will go down too much next year, but what if the Bears Franchise him again?
Although, I think briggs is overrated anyways, so I kind of want to see him go to another team and suck. Ha that would be funny.

I don't care who he is or who he's been, but a guy who does that isn't playing in the best interest of my team. He'll be a clubhouse cancer and his individual performance will be offset by selfishness and a lack of regard for the team. If he actually cared about his teammates, he wouldn't for a second do this...and if I'm his coach, I don't let him play his last 6 games this year - I bench him!

If im a GM in the NFL if a guy doesnt want to play for my team than I would trade him. I dont care if he lead the league in td passes or sacks. Trade him to get value instead of getting nothing

Other teams will see that he doesn't play for the love of the game, he plays for money. This will definitely ensure he does not get picked up by one of the classier organizations in the future.
