Um. Sure...I think there's sadly a good chance of Hagrid dying, although I think it's more likely that he would be killed by a Death Eater than Voldemort himself. His giant blood makes him harder to attack, though (as we see in Book 5 when Umbridge goes to sack him).

You seem to have very specific ideas about this. I think there's a good chance of Hagrid dying protecting the Order members (especially Harry, Ron, and/or Hermione), but no one can say for sure who will live and who will die.

In an interview (I think it was her NYC one with Stephen King and some other guy I should know...) she said something that suggested that the Trio and Hagrid all survive. It's not a guarantee, however.

Yes, I would say it's very possible that Voldemort will target Ron and Hermione IF they're not with Harry through Book 7. If Harry's with them, why not just go and kill Harry and leave it at that? Otherwise, as we know, Voldemort targets people that Harry cares about if they're not right there with him. As Hermione said, one of his greatest weaknesses is "acting the hero."

Get excited for Deathly Hallows! =)

It's a given that Hagrid will die but i've never really given any thought to how. He's always loved and been willing to give his life for Harry. That's a very good theory. I have no trouble believing that Hagrid and alot of people are willing to give their lives for Harry but in the end he has to kill Voldemort.

I'm almost sure that Hagrid is going to die. Do you remember in the fourth book (this is being a picky, finicky little stalker of fictional characters) when Rita Skeeter asked him if he was a father figure to Harry? Well, if you haven't noticed, Harry's father or substitute fathers tend to die. James, Sirius, Dumbledore...all dead. I don't think Voldemort will want to kill Ron or Hermione for fear they might do the same thing as Lily and then hinder him further from killing Harry.

It is as good a theory as any, though I don't know that there is any evidence in the prior books that would happen, except for the character of Hagrid; though I could see him die trying to attack Voldemort just as easily.

I've thought for awhile that Hagrid is a likely candidate to die in book 7. Fits the profile: mentor and friend to harry, and has no more use in the plot (as horrible as that sounds). He's already developed as a character and I don't see a reason Jo would keep him around. I think if he does live, we won't be seeing much of him.

Oh well, we'll see on july 21st!

Unfortunately, yes, maybe, and jkr apprentice, i thought someone has to have a blood relationship with harry to be his protector when they die.
