Warms up, or Overheats?

It could be a number of things, when your car is cold it is operating in open loop mode, which means it is using default settings for mixture and so on, there is no feed back from the sensors, once the exhaust temp reaches 600 degrees it goes into closed loop mode and starts to rely on the sensors for information.

Sounds like the butterfly inside the Carbreutor could be dirty, and is sticking. Might also be a case of bad gasoline, (watered), and the motor is trying to run on watered gasoline.
One way to find out is....buy a spray can of Carbreutor cleaner, start up the car, and while it is running, gently spray some cleaner down into the carbreutor..... not too much, because you will "flood" it out, and then it will be hard to start.
