My son went with his dad, (my ex husband) to a Tool concert. Personally, I am happy that his dad wants to spend time with him and is willing to involve him in things they both will enjoy. I just wander if maybe that has overshadowed the fact where they are going. I go to Ozzfest and other concerts, but have never gone to see Tool. Know their music, but other than that not sure what their concerts include. Have seen Marilyn Manson, and would not take him to see him, but would take him to see Korn or Limp Bizkit.... So, do you think I am right in how I feel about this situation?

Like I said, I go to Ozzfest, have been for the past 5 years. Don't have a problem with the music. I know that I watched Marilyn Manson put his mic up a woman's ____ at Ozzfest, but as far as tool, like their music ok, just don't know what kind of show they put on. Went to their website and looked at photos of tour and Maynard was dressed up like a woman.... pretty tame, but like I said I WOULD take him to see Korn or someone like that. I'm pretty laid back when it comes to certain things, but don't think he is ready for a mic up the ______
lol

Just heard from my son after the concert. He had a blast and loved the band told me there were two drum sets and a kick *** laser light show. He got a Tool concert tshirt and seemed really excited over the whole experience. Thanks to all who responded. As far as the negative views and the replies stating that he was too young, I guess all in all it depends on the maturity of the child.

That would really be up to your discretion. Tool is a hardcore band (I've got tickets for a July 3rd concert, YAY!!), but if you are okay for your child to LISTEN to their music, to watch the music videos, then you shouldn't have a problem with the concert.Tool isn't as explicit as Marilyn Manson, particually in the sexual content, but they are quite slanderous of religion (the christian faith)

The worst thing that's likely to happen at a Tool concert is that Maynard will get pissed off and sit out a few songs. Tool is a very introspective band and encourages that kind of response from their audience. They're really all about the music... No inappropriate theatrics to worry about here, Mom!!!

No, I don't think so, but I would send along some ear plugs though. I'm not sure about Tool, but some concerts are really loud and they would help a child muffle out some of the sound if they need too.

No not at all.
I went to concerts all the time at a young age!
I do understand your place in this though.
There isn't anything to worry about.
The crowds aren't normally too bad.
If he's like the guys here he will love it!
The worst thing that can happen is he gets in the middle of a mosh pit.
They are very fun and not normally harmful. a few bruises but that's it.
The crowds around here are very nice.
If you fall five people will try to help you up then ask if you are OK.

I've seen Tool twice now and for a rock concert, it is pretty mellow. The worst thing that usually goes on at a Tool concert is pot smoking and that is at most concerts. If his dad is with him, he will be fine.

personally i don't think the show would be too bad for him, however i would really recommend that you don't bring him to the show. of all the shows i've been to, younger kids tend to take away a lot of the fun from the older people. they don't know how to act in the crowd and are generally quite annoying. if you kept a tight leash on him though and kept him by you it wouldn't be to bad. just a thought regarding courtesy for the other concert goers.

I don't know.If your kid pays attention to lyrics,You might have a problem with Tool. Not that Tool Lyrics are Bad or Evil. Its just its geared toward a more adult audience and deals with a lot of complex issues.I think kids should remain kids as long as possible. But then again If your kid watches TV he has already heard and seen worse on the local news.

Hell no. You are never too young for a Tool show. It is a total visual experience. I have not seen anything at a Tool show that I wouldn't show to my kids if I had any. ;-)
