The most important thing is to Stay low and stand him up with your forearm once you have the leverage you can push him out of the way and make the play. Also watch the ball so you can get a jump on the play as soon as the center starts to move the ball explode low and stand him up..if you do this you will win the battle 95% of the time.

If you a defensive lineman then don't try to. Reggie White never knocked a guy down unless he had the ball, so neither should you. Stay low, swim or rip and he can't block you.

well from my own experience i played for the titans in belton so if anybody knows us we went 7-0 going in to the Superbowl against a team we already beat first game of the year but they went undefeated after that so I'm on the offensive line LG and there's this dude not big but hes tall and fast and I'm like a little chubby at the time this is rookie season and this guy bulled me over one play and sacked my QB so they next play i come out then i go back in the game and i got low i put my back straight and i used all my might and i pushed him to the ground

Get lower then him, keep your back straight, KEEP YOU HEAD UP (never look down, keep your eyes on his head the whole time.), and fork lift him or just push him on his shoulders as hard as you can. Getting extra muscle helps too. Try to beat him on the snap, if you can catch him when he is not ready he will probably be off balance when you hit him and just knock him on his azz. Study tapes of Julius Peppers. That man is a monster at DE.

Get low, get leverage and drive your feet. Never stop pumping your feet and driving forward just like the blocking dumbies I'm sure you push all over the field..
(In the end it sucks being small but I did pancake a few guys who were a lot bigger than me when they didn't take me serious).

Low man always wins. But you don't have to put him on his ***. All you have to do is get off his block and rush the QB or get the RB. Swim/rip/etc are more effective ways than knocking him on his *** via bull rush or whatever you do.

At 5 years old my son played d-guard and played with the 7,8,and9 year olds. He could give you some pointers. At the end of the year at the team party, he was named mvp on defense.

i was a DE my for the first 2 years of middle school and a DT in the 8th grade and i'm only 5'6. i just shoved my helmet into their shoulderpads, put my arms straight up in the air and pushed like hell. if you get a better start than them it'll work all the time. if they get a better start than you, just take a deep breath and put your hands under your ***.

remember speed kills, get off the ball quicker than him, anticipate the snap, drive with your legs put your arms underneath his chest you may or may not be able to knock him over but if you get your arms extended you'll have the leverage to be able to push him out of the way and take the qb's head off good luck!
