Rick Wakeman without a shadow of a doubt. I don't dislike ELP, but they're not a patch on Yes. Don't even come close. I'm sorry - just my opinion.

Rick. The closest ELP ever got to a nearly perfect record is either "Tarkus" or "Brain Salad Surgery",
and both of those put together cant touch at least five Yes albums. Yes brings home the bacon, almost every time. But in fact, my favorite Yes record (and thats hard to choose) is "Relayer", which is also their most under-rated and misunderstood record, and on which Rick does not play, as I'm sure you know.

Wakeman gets my vote. Nothing personal---really; it's just I listened more to Yes (due to heavy FM radio airplay) than ELP.
I think in the US, that's pretty much how who fares better when it comes to one classic rock act versus another; it all depends on the FM radio airplay all those years back.
Nothing much can be done about that...except hope the classic rock sound emerges again with explosive comeback vengance.....and wakes up these alternative rock kids.

Tough one, Rick has a better attitude and is better live although personally ELP I think are owed more historically for innovation.

tough question
I'm a ELP fan
but I don't think I can say one is better than the other.
Artists are what they are, sorry I know it's a none answer but I just can't pick

I think Emerson was the better songwriter, but they were probably fairly equally proficient on keyboards. I love those two bands too!!!
