Mostly because of the attitude of ppl like Laszlo, Some ppl have to drive a corolla to work to pay for their bikes so on the weekend they can enjoy themselves. Well I drive a VW to work, but I love my bike. I wave at ALL bikers, because when I am on my bike and they are on theirs I have no clue as to what they drive any other day...on that day they are my sisters and brothers on bikes.

I personally wave at everyone whether they are on a Cruiser or sport bike; of any make or model. I also ride both a cruiser and sport bike. When I'm on the cruiser, which is Japanese manufactured, I've noticed the about 90% of HD riders still wave compared to 100% of sportbikers. When on the sportbike the percentage is 100%, unless the rider cannot wave safely. In Georgia I've primarily encountered HD riders that don't wave. I believe it is due to the belief that they consider themselves part of the exclusive fraternity and don't socialize with non-Harley bikers. By no means am I bashing all HD riders since I ride with a couple myself. We have been on a ride togther and they've been snubbed as well. We ignore it and expect that it happened since they were riding with a non-American bike. I guess they are considered sell-outs. :)

i was riding here in sc today
passed probably 20 bikes and waved at all of them
one didn,t wave back
that is better than average around here
it is normally about 75 %
maybe it is where you live
in the mountains less wave but that is probably because they would be waving to 150 bikers a day

I try to return all waves and will initiate the wave whenever my hand is clear of the clutch (no matter what type of bike I'm passing). Here in NH, I'd say about 80% of the bikers return your salute (of those whose hand is clear of the clutch). In MA it is less. Around 60%.

When my father had his corvette, I heard that only corvette drivers waved at each other. Maybe it is the same for bikes, like your in a special club?
PS - You should feel free to wave at me - I drive a two-tone red and tan minivan and I live in NY - I'll wave back!

too many bikes in town you would be constantly waving people still do it out on the road and in less populated areas. when I go down to the farm on the 2 lane blacktop in my truck people in other trucks & cars wave nod or raise a finger (no not that one) bikes are so common in town they're seen as just more traffic not as a fellow traveler on a lonely road.

cause you are in LA, where people are afraid you are throwing gang signs?
up in the bay area, people wave all the time, no matter what bike. Of course there are exceptions, we just figure they are from LA?
