This astronomer doesn't, but you probably know that already since I probably spend more time in R&S than I do here.

LOL. Just got back from the local atheist meeting at the bar to run a telescope.

The answer is no and yes. Gods come from myths we humans created to help us understand the world around us. Consider this, the very first humans believed in something as their minds could not comprehend the reasons of their reality, and as we progressed we had a need to further explain the unknown. I believe science is a religion also, but with one major difference it does not solely rely on faith for its proof. However with that said how many times have we heard from the scientific community that long standing facts have been shattered with the latest findings. In essence even our science truth is not 100%, it also relies on some form of faith that the underlying facts are completely irrifutable, their lies the dilemma as the next generation discovers new underlying facts how can we believe these theories to be facts.

While the above statement may seem like a plug for god, the truth is religion is even worse. History has shown over and over again that humans have corrupted the worship of god by making sure large populations live in fear. God as a philosphy in its ideal is a great concept, but unfortunately we humans don't know how to embrace the philosophical purity of god. Instead all religions use this power and with no factual basis it again gives those that need something more to their existence the chance to find false meaning to their lives.

So in summary, no there is no god, there is only us humans and our need for understanding. Neither god or science seem to have all the answers, so my suggestion is beieve in yourself and the reality around you, what you see, touch, taste and experience are the true underlying irrifutable facts of all life.

As an agnostic, I can not say definitively whethere there is or is not a God. I can say that I feel that there is a higher order to things than we may ever be able to see, touch, measure, feel, or even understand. My mind can easily extrapolate higher planes of existence that we cannot reach in the physical world.

So I think there's a higher order behind it all, but I really doubt that it's the God of any of the world's religions. I think they all have pieces of the truth (like the tale of the blind men trying to describe an elephant, and each one touching a different part of the elephant and describing that part they've touched. Each one is right, yet missing some of the whole picture)

I currently don't believe a god exists, at least not as described by any religion I know of. I think the universe can be explaiend well enough without one.

As a credited scientist, philosapher, poet, and a deeply logical person, one who beleives what he sees, in what he should see and what may be seen, yes I as a scientist believe in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Any believer has to believe that all other believers are idiots unless their belief embraces their god.
Faith is the only thing that can sustain a god.
Faith defies logic.

NO!!!!!!!!

I do not believe in Poseidon, Athene, Thor, Mercury, or any other god. Until empirical evidence is produced, I cannot accept this.

I have reported you as violating this forum. These questions should be in Religion, where thousands of people will flock at your feet supporting your views. Not here please.

Consider - the scientists tell us that neither energy nor matter can be created or destroyed, yet they create theories which create the unfathomable, incomprehensible, enormous energy and matter in the universe from a dimensionless singularity.
Go figure.
