Yes you can.

You will simply need to buy a higher capacity ( in space size ) Laptop Hard Disk Drive. Make sure that you buy / get a Hard Disk Drive that is similar in technology.

This is to say that you should not buy a SATA Hard Disk Drive if you have a IDE Hard Disk Drive compatible Laptop computer.

Check your requirements and go browsing websites for laptop drives.
Yes you can but second you should take it to a computer shop or Best Buy and ask them to back up your files onto another drive(this drive will probably a external drive and not the new drive that will be put in). Once you have found your drive ask the store to put it in for you.

You have 2 options really. Replace your current hard drive and replace it with a larger one or get an external hard drive to keep data on.
