usually the rhythm (rapid, generally), downstroked guitar (would not particularly word for each thing), possibly a wonderful guitar sound, and roots that're greater in rock n roll than the greater..theatric? (think of Queen, specific, stuff like that) areas of Rock. Lyrically, particularly some punk looks approximately insurrection against notwithstanding, yet this would not carry authentic for each thing. I advise, the Ramones weren't particularly based around rebellious lyrics, yet they seem to be a seminal punk band. Oh, and the vocals generally are not particularly singing, so as that separates it from another track it is likewise (usually) greater convenient sounding than metallic, quicker/with a some distance better potential point than no longer elementary Rock (from time to time..), generally would not contain rapping like Rap-Rock.. much less production, too, particularly some the time. Or a minimum of it is not made as obtrusive. It additionally has a tendency in the direction of a repetitive riff and easy refrain. Er..to be honest, from time to time this is perplexing to declare. and of direction there are a number of bands which soundwise could no longer be accepted punk, yet which had one among those extensive impression on the type that they get thrown in there. return of the Jackyl, it particularly is why the qualifier "usually" is there. and how do you clarify non-punk bands which have the comparable attitude?

American Punk = bands stating the probs with modern government and society eg Ramones
British Punk = bands stating how they as people are rebelling against the way there so called superiors are using and treating them.
Musically playing with attitude first and vocal second and musical talent as a bye product.

Ramones and the Sex Pistols pretty much say it all. Not caring, screaming at you, spitting in your face, rebellion... Thats what it is. In a nutshell, punk is being unique.
