No, not really. But, it's your kid, name it whatever you want.

Like Lou Diamond Phillips? I'd make it a second name too. Let the kid decide, when he's old enough, if he wants to be known by that name. It's rather out there and could cause future problems, depending what profession or calling the boy follows one day. Great, for an entertainer, but not so great perhaps, while in school. Kids could really zero in on that one! It sounds like a stage name, not something for a normal kid, unless you're a very eccentric family, then maybe a name like that would be normal! You'd have to decide!

Now...everyone knows that a Diamond is a woman's best friend...and thusly so it perfect for a female. Hehe...actually I don't think it's a great idea to name a boy Diamond...it just seems like a more feminine name. If you want to stick with a gem name Ruby wouldn't be too bad for a boy...or you could even name him Jul, or Gem...

Unless you want your son to be forever thought of as a girl on school lists, registration lists and social security lists, consider another name. Diamond is too common for little girls, its not something that I would choose for a boy.

Diamond is a traditionally female name ... I don't think it's a good name on any gender, but if you break it down into its parts (die and mund) and apply general etymology rules to it (lets assume English etymonlgy rules, since it's an English word) it would be a feminine name.

I think I'd pass up that name... not good. It's just too out there a bit... give a boy a good name: something that has more value and of course history and with linguistic base!

I'm a high school teacher and some of my female students are named Diamond. I think it's a better name for a girl.
