I have an abcess tooth infection and am going to the dentist on 7/2 for a root canal. I need to know if the homeopathic remedy. Pennicillinum will work like an antibiotic. If it will work, what is the dosages to take? My homeopathic recommended it but she is out of town and I need to know if this WILL or MAY work. I can't go in with a totally infected tooth. They said the infection has to be under control. Please, any homeopath's out there that can advise? Thank you!

I just wanted to add that my dentist did prescribe me pharmacutical antibiotic form of Pennacillin and I do have it just in case. I just hate the dull ache and need to take something. The Pharmacutical makes my stomache quizie. I've been taking the homeopathic stuff for a week now.

Your dentist should have prescribed you with some antibiotics when you where there to see him/or/her. I don't know of any dentist who would work on a root canal with someone who has an abscess tooth infection without giving time for antibiotics to get into a person's system. You should call your dentist Monday morning and see if you can get them to call in a prescription to your nearest pharmacy. In the mean time what you can do to help relieve the swelling is brew some black tea and place the tea bag (without squeezing the the water out of the bag) over the infected area for a little while.

Homeopathic and medication should not be used in the same sentence. It is true that a homeopathic “remedy” has absolutely no side effects like your stomach ache, this is because it has absolutely no effect. The pills are nothing more than starch or sugar. No homeopathic remedy will work like an antibiotic. If you really have an infection only the antibiotic (like the Pennacillin your dentist prescribed to you) will work. You need to take it in its entirety as prescribed or even the antibiotic won’t work. I’m sorry about the side effects but they’re only temporary and will pass. The infection you have is not under control and might be getting worse.

You will need a regular antibiotic prescribed by your dentist. Penicillium is an antibiotic but some people react to it adversely. You have to perform a test to see if it works on you.

I think you are going to need something stronger to clear an abcess prior to root canal. You should discuss this with your dentist now.

i am all for natural remedies, but in cases like this, you do need an antibiotic. i am allergic to penicillin, sounds like you are too if you are getting a queasy stomach. my dentist prescribes one for me, zithromax..call your dentist, ask for one that is not in the penicillin family
