Congratulations!
1. Start taking prenatal vitamins immediately. You need the extra folic acid in the early stages of embryo development.
2. Make sure you get as much rest as possible. Your body is going to be going through incredible changes and you need to prepare. So...
3. Start making healthy eating changes now. There's always the possibility that you will develop morning sickness (named wrong, it's not just in the morning but all day long) and then you'll just eat whatever you can. Get in those veggie while you can!
4. The (hopefully) obvious ones are no smoking, no drinking, no recreational drugs, no aspirin, and only approved OTC medicines (http://www.4woman.gov/faq/pregmed.htm).
Check out www.pregnancy.org for lots of info. You can also check out iVillage and webMD. Good luck!

Not a whole lot happens in the beginning. Just implantation and the cells multilpying. You'll be fine without getting to the doctor so fast. The first visit is usually just a test for STDs and a pelvic exam. They can't really look at the baby because it is too small. My 5 week ultrasound was just a yolk sac (I know it sounds gross, but it just looks like a little circle on the screen!) So, you're not missing anything. Check out whattoexpect.com for a week by week breakdown and buy the book too. Get on a prenatal vitamin asap, you can get it over the counter at CVS or even at PP until you are able to get a script. Start making the necessary changes to your diet and lifestyle. You have an exciting 9 months ahead of you. Congratulations and good luck!

FIRST - no one has EVER lost a baby from gaining too much weight!! [ their figure, yes ]
1] no alcohol
2] no drugs - nothing but Tylenol without doc's permission
3] no smoking [ don't even be in the room with smokers - now is the time to make your house a smoke free zone ].
4] eat a quality diet: at least
3 servings of protein
4 servings dairy
6 servings grain
2 servings fruit
4 servings veggies
5] get prenatal vitamins from the drugstore, and take them until you see the doctor
6] avoid fried, fast, and junk foods - even diet junk foods.
NOTE: you only need about 300 extra calories to gain the
25-30 pounds recommended in pregnancy.
If you already exercise, you may continue. Don't start anything new unless its easy walking or swimming.

I would say first don't stress out. That is never good for a pregnancy. Simply eat healthy and drink lots of water. Avoid the "bad pregnancy foods" No tuna or unprocessed cheeses like feta. Stay away from lunch meats. Enjoy ever moment of it. Sleep, sleep , sleep because after you have your baby, it will be a thing of the past. And congratulations, you will know a different kind of love, one you couldn't even imagine. Ever part of the experience is amazing.

First don't be scared be blessed that you are having this experience. Remember there are going to be good days and no so good days (not to upset you but to keep it real, been there done that). You should get lots of rest, don't stress, think happy thoughts. As for eating goes stay away from greasy foods, spicy foods, and caffeine. Flintstones are good. Remember this they don't come with instructions and no matter how hard you try not you will wonder am I being a good Mother, PRAY and follow you motherly instincts. If you need to chat add me to your contacts. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations! Okay, to answer your questions, you should start taking prenatal vitamins if you haven't started already, if you smoke or drink you should stop, try to limit how much caffeine you have, drink lots of water, eat healthy, and try to relax. A good website is babycenter.com, you can create a pregnancy calender and it offers tips and advice, I used that site throughout my entire pregnancy. What to expect when your expecting is also a great book to get. Good luck and congratulations!!!

Take folic acid and/or a prenatal vitamin. Avoid the obvious risks.... smoking, drinking alcohol, etc. Other than that, there's not much to do. Babycenter.com and pregnancy.org have a lot of good information.
