If security guard came up to me and said I could not wear a hood, I would not take it off. Would continue my merry way. If he tries to stop me, I would tell him he was not a police officer and had no jurisdiction over me.

If the mall is a private place, then he could, at least in theory, have me thrown out. But I as he was doing that, I would get his name, badge number if any, and then write to the local papers and management

In case of the management, I would mention to him how rudely I was treated by the officer, and that a copy of this letter I was sending to the local press. The letter would also be signed by my parents (hopefully) and anyone else that was with me. The purpose of writing the letter would be to notify them of the bad PR they are likely to encounter.

It is interesting to note that in cases of personal liberty and expression often loses to blind paranoia and fear.

What would be the next step, forcing everyone to walk nude so that any robbers would be more noticeable due to any scars or tattoos? And do away with handbags and backpacks, so shoplifters won't have anything to put stolen goods in. Hey, if we want to deter crime, we've got to go all the way!

Really, what is the Harm? Would you rather someone who wore a HOOD was at the End of the mall and had explosives and you went up in a Blaze of Glory?????

And there are Adults in Iraq that are Killing people like flies, so really did it really take that much effort for you to do?

Have you ever heard the Phrase, "Better Safe than Sorry?"

I'm a security guard. If that's a mall rule, you should follow it. Imagine everyone walking around with hoods, and then a gunman (hooded) gets away with robbing a store and killing someone you know.

The laws aren't written to protect personal choice. They are to protect the stores you buy things from, and the people who shop there. Safety is MUCH more important than looks or personal issues.

I hope you understand. The world isn't out to stop you from personal choice. The evil-minded people have much deeper problems to deal with.

I see your point.
But...think of it this way. Someone came up & shot you or your mom or dad, or kidnapped some little kid at the mall, & they were never caught because the cameras couldn't get their face.
Extreme case, but you see my point. I'd rather be hassled about my hood than be the victim because nobody said anything to the crazy guy with a hood.

Follow the rules, If you don't like them shop somewhere else.
A hat is on your head, not as threatening, as a hood that goes from the head to and in your case past the neck. This is a different world. There will be many times when your logic doesn't match their reason

They are just putting you into a stereotype of a typical thief. The stereotype of a thief is wearing black, wearing a hood, and shades. With you wearing a hood it seems like your trying to hide a incriminating face. Just do what they say to make their job much easier.

was a little extreme but at the same time all the b.s. that is going on these days(bombs, kidnapping etc....) i can see the guards point. He did go a little overboard w/rudeness though. That's life chalk it up to a learning experience. God Bless and peace to you:-)
