How do you put a trace on an IP address?

Or, shall I say, how do you perform an IP address trace (preferably on a received e-mail)? Thank you in advance.

You can download Neotrace. It is a really cool program that allows you to trace where that IP is located. I believe their trial allows you to do this as well. I will trace the ending of the email. For example, if it is from [e-mail], I would trace cokefreestuff.com.
