We are wasting Billions on bigger government the inept Bush Administration created! We already had a Department of Defense..we could have centralised a department within the department to work with local law enforcement and to collate services. Homeland Security is a trite attempt at making it look like our so-called leaders are responding appropriately to terrorists. Just like invading a country that had nothing to do with 9/11...These are all scare tactics to make the current administration look usefull, when in fact, we the tax payer are being bled for TRILLIONS of dollars!

The idea that there has not been any terrorist attacks since the creation of Homeland Security is ludicrous at best. There wouldn't have been anyway. With increased awareness in our law enforcement agencies, the new security measures at airports and the coast guard being more diligent......we have NO NEED for another bureaucratic agency.

Just because leadership in both parties supported the idea doesn't make it a GOOD idea. It's bigger Government, and a waste of MONEY!

It's yet another step toward creating a fascist state...similar to what the nazi's did!

The DHS was created for the same reason Hilter created the "Department of Fatherland Security".

Our rights are being trampled, our freedoms are being lost, the noose is tightening. Wake up folks, the usurpation of our government would not have been possible if it were not for the "false flag" event on 911.

Take the red pill and watch the movies below.

It's mostly a waste of money. The country is no safer today than it was prior to 9-11. The only thing it seems to have done is made the cia and fbi start sharing more info. This could have been accomplished by the President telling them "enough of this bull-**it, start sharing your info or I am going to get people in here that will". It is just a feel good de[partment so the gov't can claim it did something.

Yes, you are right about the scare tactics. But Homeland Gestapo has little to do with "making the Shrub gang look good"; it is actually about harassing and intimidating American citizens because we are living in a virtual police state, just like in Nazi Germany of the 1930s. As a matter of fact, the Bushies are in fact, Nazis. Bushie senior grew up with Nazis and helped hide Nazi war criminals in America.

I can't answer this question better than Buckley did regrading the moral equivalency between the CIA and the KGB. this is from his memoirs: "I said to Johnny Carson that to say that the CIA and the KGB engage in similar practices is the equivalent of saying that the man who pushes an old lady into the path of a hurtling bus is not to be distinguished from the man who pushes an old lady out of the path of a hurtling bus: on the grounds that, after all, in both cases someone is pushing old ladies around" --W. F. Buckley

Yeah ! The D.H.S is just another refuge of power hungry despots, who think that they can stop the terrorists by shredding the Constitution. The wasted tax money is mind boggling ! How come the same idiots that scream that they don't want to pay taxes, don't get upset at the incredible fraud being carried out right under their noses ! I remember how corrupt J Edgar Hoover was ! The same corruption is rampant today in our govt. on both sides of the aisle ! The USA has to stop it's quest for world domination, and concentrate on world survival !

What are you complaining about? The Dept of Homeland security was an idea supported by the leadership of both parties. Not just a Bush idea.

The Department of Homeland Security (sounds something right out of a Nazi propaganda film, doesn't it?) is the biggest waste of taxpayers' money in recent memory. It is highly ineffectual, terribly mismanaged, and completely worthless. I know people that walk on airplanes everyday with fake or stolen I.D.s, items that DHS considers 'weapons', and false boarding passes just to see if they can continue to get away with it - and they always do!

Out of curiosity, how many terrorist attacks have there been on American soil since the creation of Homeland Security?

How many attempts have been foiled (a few come to mind immediately)?

Obviously DHS is at least a somewhat useful organization, though I would argue vehemently that it needs improvement.

And don't blame the Bush Administration for creating them. Bush couldn't have done it without the backing of Congress.

The most ironic thing is that, even if Bush hadn't been elected and Gore had, the exact same thing would have happened, except conservatives would be whining and bitching about liberals rather than the other way around.

This is what i hate about government, when things go wrong, isntead of fixing it, we just create another layer of bureaucracy.

So, the CIA and the FBI failed to prevent 9/11, instead of reforming them and fixing it, politicians believe that by adding another layer to the bureaucracy the problem is solved

I think it was formed to pull all the security forces together so that information is shared. I don't pretend to know all about our national security.

I do know that during the last administration there was a wall put up between the CIA and FBI so that they couldn't share information. It was called the Gorelick wall after the person who created it. This led to all sorts of problems with stopping terrorist attacks etc.

Now that wall is down and more info is shared. Just one small step to more security.
