Tiger Barbs do not need salt. They need a spacious tank (29 gal or larger) and should be kept in a group of 6 or more to cut down on aggression and fin nipping. They are susceptible to Ich, so it is important to keep water conditions optimal.

I was confused about that to bc you will read add salt on the sign. What that means is "conditioning salt" which just keeps them calm and healthy and you do not have to use it or have it. But yea I was wondering that to and just actually asked to day :). Its like $4 at petco for a huge jar if you just want to get it.

They don't need salt in their water but the addition of 1/2 teaspoon per gallon of aquarium salt can help ward off diseases.

No. Note that they are also very aggressive. I got rid of mine after they kept chasing the guppies and biting their tails.
