i'm trying to avoid all the wires so i'm looking for the best router/adapter combo: best range and speed without spending that much money... right now i'm using a belkin router fsd9230 and a linksys adapter wusb54gs and i can't seem to get the best performance out of these 2... i also have another adapter (airlink model "?" that has 3 antennas) that will not connect at all, and the router is just in the other room... cat5 will be my last option...

I prefer D-Link myself. I have used Netgear, Linksys, Belkin, Proxim, Orinoco, SMC, Apple and Intel units and in my experience D-Links are not only the easiest to setup but have the fewest problem units. They dont have that great of customer support, but thats the least important thing to me. I prefer easy setup and performance over support.

But everyone has different feelings about there favorite brands and models.

So as far a D-Links, if you want the best range and speed units try these:

If you are more concerned with price then try these:

I use a Linksys WRT54G for my home networking. I have an SMC directional home antenna that screws in which broadcasts my wireless internet (I use the WRT54G 'switch' so I can use two desktop computers that are wired as well). This setup is quite old, 2.4ghz and the SMC antenna is probably outdated. But this setup works perfectly, hardly cost me a thing. Using regular CAT5e cables which are cheap as they get.. Cat 6 really isn't that much better if you ask me. Check for similar models to the WRT54G if you need wired connections as well. I would never use belkin or anything like that.. Linksys to me is the only reliable router on the market.

It work as advertised because i am using it for my home network which has : Win98SE,WinXp, Laptop with Vista and the Xbox 360--all connected to this router.

the relationship is theory to not be a 24hr connection it is the case. it particularly is a on call for connection. There although could be an icon on the job bar to point the status of your connection, the 2nd device could make an computerized connection. Please observe that in case you probably did not set up a minimum of WEP protection it particularly is actual ordinary for somebody to holiday your connection. the main suitable protection is to tutor off the router while the internet connection isn't in use. Given time (small volume) WEP and WPA would properly be cracked.
