I have absolutely no musical background, could anyone tell me what to do first? I assume I should first read some book to get acquainted with all the musical dialect...All suggestions welcome.

Get a teacher or take a class. If someone had given me a guitar and a book, I'd be lost. A teacher will help, A LOT!

Beginners books are good but, I suggest a chord book. One, that shows you all the chords and where to put your fingers. Then find a song book that does the same. Good luck, practice, practice, and remeber to put your fingers firmly on the srtings and not let them touch.
