In my opinion, Clinton was the most evil presence to ever grace the White House. Who's your vote for the worst?

If you say Bush, then you have to name a second worst, because I'm betting 4/5 of you will say Bush.

Oh. my favorite question!

FDR!!

-Waged war on every populated continent
-Elected four times
-Ignored Supreme Court warnings on constitutional issues
-Literally stole Americans' gold, devaluing the dollar and making the government rich: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_Order_6102 )
-Did nothing to fix the depression until we entered the war 10 years later (any idiot can get the economy running during a war, yet he's credited as the hero who ended the depression)
-Created the obtrusive systems of government we currently have
-First president to use mass-media (radio) to bribe the people with their own tax money
-Defines/Embodies what is currently known as the "imperial presidency"
-By FAR the biggest tax increases and deficits in terms of inflation-adjusted dollars

And most importantly:

-He almost personally created this government type we have, and he's treated like a hero. (Bushes and Clintons are WANNA-BEs!)

I'm not sure that you will ever get an answer that objectively- at least in most people's mind- give a definitive answer. Plenty of subjective attempts though. I do agree with you within an aspect that Clinton was absolutely horrible. Chinagate, selling of defense secrets to antagonistic Nations, large donations to N. Korea which was later used in a way not intended( as though we could have ever ensured that it would be). And of course don't forget Nafta.
But i'd also place FDR on the list. He expanded the federal government many times its size, and turned a closed eye to the Constitution while doing so. I understand that during wartime there are emergency measures that are taken place- but those are often left in place , adding more & more bureaucracy. FDR's abolition of the Gold standard is an egregious mistake that i believe has led to such a high national debt in the first place. But i don't place Clinton in the same boat as FDR in that i don't believe FDR was a personally evil person. Of course, as for W. Bush.... there are numerous dealings that I totally disagree with . Immigration is my top priority. Im not that big a fan of any new federal agency... so i don't enjoy the Patriot ACT or Homeland. I don't believe that Constitutionaly it is the federal Government's responsibility or greatest trait to clean up Hurricane Damage such as Katrina. The field of trailors only personifies the idea that less centralized Government is better. No one would expect the Federal Government to take care of my house if it were to be blown away by a Tornado. If anything, that is Local or state. But Emergency Flood recovery is not within the Constitutional scope of the Federal Government.
But to be fair... How many of us, besides Political Science or History Professors or Buffs, know the policies of James K. Polk or James Buchanan? So i believe you probably are going to get a lot of George W. is the devil rheotoric.

Most people who say Bush or Clinton are the worst or the best are just saying that because they don't know enough about history to be able to judge past presidents. Or because they're hysterical.

I didn't like Clinton, but he wasn't that bad. 8 years of mostly peace and prosperity. I think it was despite him, rather than because of him, but still, he must not have done too badly to preside over such a time.

I say FDR was the worst, since his economic policies lengthened the great depression, and because he didn't do enough to stop Hitler before he grew really powerful.

People will answer this question and not give any reason why. Just like you didn't give a valid reason why Clinton was a bad president. Any who, since I am only 20 years old, I can only pick from a few presidents. And my choice is Bush :). The reason why I don't think Bush is a good president is because...
-Cut student funds and raised student fees
-National debt is high
-Started a war
-vetoed the bill to get out the war
-Patriot act
-Phone tapping
-Gas prices are high
-A LOT of our rights have been lessened
I can go on for days....

Clinton! I don't know how some people have written that he was the best? Besides being terribly corrupt, his so called "strong economy" was nothing more than the result of Bush Sr's economic policies taking effect. Not to mention, HE WAS BANGING HIS INTERN!!! If Bush did that, the lefty loons would be charging the White House with pitchforks.

Bush is the biggest fake and liar I've seen in my lifetime. Clinton could lie, but he also knew how to compromise and get things done. Bush is just a wacked out... well, I can't even come up for a word that describes what a failure he is.

Bush, he should be impeached. He has borrowed more money for his awful war than all 41 presidents before him added together. He has lied, he has exposed a whole section of our intelligence network to get back at a woman whose husband tried to expose his lies re: Iraq. He has taken our precious civil liberties away, in the name of security. He is selling our national rescources, lumber and wild spaces for profit. He has destroyed our foriegn alliances, and made most other governments hate us, and so on and so on. This is only a small part of his crimes. Second worst is clearly Reagan, who deregulated everything you can think of to set up the situation we currently have with the rich getting richer and everyone else getting poorer.
Clinton is the best president we have had in a long time. His economy was good for the average person, not the rich. He made friends all over the world, our alliances were strong. He could have done more, but the republicans spend the whole time he was in office digging up dirt to limit his accomplishments.

OMG: Any one who picks any one but Nixon is simply ignoring history. Nixon and his men were on the verge of a total political coup.

Warren Harding and US Grant were also terrible

Bill Clinton was far from the most evil person ever in the White House, and for that matter George Bush is no where near any where as bad as the trio of Grant, Harding and Nixon

I always answer this question with my opinion of the best and the worst: William Henry Harrison. The 9th POTUS.

Who? You might well ask. Precisely.

He gave a 2 hour innaugural speech outside in the cold rain, contracted pneumonia and never recovered. He was dead inside of a month.

So the best, because he did no harm. The worst, because he did nothing.
