Ok well I'm fairly new to skakeboarding and I fell off and I don 't know what I did to my ankle but it hurt so bad when I tried to get up, so I had to crawl over to the sidewalk and sit for a little while. When I felt better I got up went aftermy board and went inside and it was hard to walk and my ankle was still hurting. Well now its been like an hour and my foot is a bit purple/white and very very stiff and hard to move and there are lumps/bumps I kow where not there before, and my foot is a bit swollen. Also it was a bit tingly for about 5 minutes. Did I break it or jsut sprain? My dad felt it but didn't notice anything and won't take me to the doctors and my mom is on the phone and won't let me talk ot her.

Actually a while back I broke my arm in 2 places and both my parents felt it and I didn't feel anything, I didn't even know it was broken and I could movie it, but I ended up needing a 5,000$ surgery, so thats why I am not sure if its broken or not.

You're not getting much sympathy and in my opinion you could use sympathy and a trip to the doctor.
Skateboards move at a pretty good pace and injuries aren't unheard of.

The good news is that if you wait until tomorrow to see how you feel, it's more likely that they will be able to put a cast on it if you need one. They don't put casts on until the swelling stops, so that the cast isn't too tight. In the meantime, take some Advil or other non-aspirin medication for the pain, and keep your foot elevated.

As for your father's remarks, perhaps he's nervous and that's the way he expresses it. Or maybe he doesn't handle other people's imperfections well. Being brave enough to try something new is a very valuable trait and if you are going to learn anything difficult, some mistakes and accidents are unavoidable parts of that. It would be much less valuable for you to never risk learning anything new, though you wouldn't fall in that process. Someday, though, you will face other new challenges and taking on new ones now will help you be confident enough to have a better life later.

Feel better, do.

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.

So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.

Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.

A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.

Heal your ankle fully & fast?

I have had a broken ankle, and did not know until after a month the swelling did not go down and I went to the hospital and got an xray, it was broken. If you felt sick to your stomach when it happened, that is a sure sign that it is broken. If it is a bad sprain, sometimes those hurt just as bad.
Better safe than sorry, go get it xrayed, and maybe your Dad should get his head xrayed to see if he has a freaking brain!

If you were able to walk on it at all, and let your dad feel it without screaming, it sounds like a bad sprain. If you aren't sure go to ER. But a break is doubtful.

Lots of ice and LOTS of rest. A sprain weakens it, so in the future it will be more likely to sprain again. That is why you want to give it a big break to heal as much as possible.
