She should practice what she preaches with her globe trotting! If shed allow supply and demand to take over things would work out as companies are in business to make money and listen to the consumer

By the time any environmentally friendly regulations get pushed through congress after all the corporate welfare, lobbying crap we will have long exhausted oil.

There isn't a global warming scare. There are a set of consequences that will happen as the Earth continues to warm (scientifically validated). We either do something about it, prepare for it, or do nothing and deal with consequences when they happen (which will be too late).

All oil consuming countries should be pushing for alternate fuels so as to get away from dependence on some very unstable nations. They don´t seem to be able to do this in Europe so the US should take the lead and institute a federal gas tax which should be used exclusively for alternate fuel research.

Not a scare at all. It's a good idea. Higher fuel efficiency means we'll use less gas and oil, spend less money, and have better vehicles. That means we can stop giving money to middle eastern countries with oil (some of whom support terrorism). And it might help global warming too. So what's wrong with that?

I'm a Republican, I don't believe in global warming, but I still think we should make the fuel-efficiency rules tougher. It'd help in the war on terrorism.

No I think its about time. Its only this year that we are being passed up by China as the number one polluter in the world. And even if you do not believe in global warming you can't deny that there are issues with air quality in certain cities in the US and around the world. And that goes for water as well...its just dirty...Try going to the beach sometime and seeing how much trash is there or check out the air in LA or NY. Or Dallas for that matter. I just think we need to clean up a LITTLE at least...like I said: even if you don't think that global warming is going on.

oh puhlease. the sixty four dollar comment was, id hate to see americas national energy source be wind. it would be nice if the pelosi reid regime would stop grandstanding for a moment and use some common sense for a change. renew the energy exploration tax credits, repeal the clinton montana land grab returning us land for energy sourcing and face a little reality. a little dose of reality and the additional legislation wouldnt be necessary....sorry pal, dont count on the regime for that kind of common sense. given 757gate, the territorial vote grant and the porking of the iran funding bill it simply wont be happening.

Might be a good idea but... it will drive up the cost of vehicles and fuel (double-edged sword). So... increasing gas prices (it will not lower gas prices, gas prices will have to increase to make up the losses due to less consumption... right ?!) and increasing passenger car prices. Sounds like a Democrat solution to me. Like Hillary said,"Americans will have to give up some things."

I say let the market and technologies solve it. Thats the best way. Don't force feed it.

I agree with her. The world is running out of oil, we need to find alternate sources of energy. Not only for cars but also for home heating. Farming takes a lot of fuel to plant & to harvest so using alternative energy would help keep the costs for food down.

Fuel-efficiency is a positive thing. It leads to America being less dependent on oil and cleaner air for the country. Let's not use politicians we (seem to) dislike to spin good things into bad.
