Both. I spread it on bread with a knife and eat it sometimes out of the jar with a spoon. I love it on apples and pretzels too!

If I'm making a sandwich I spread it. If I'm just eating it out the jar I use a spoon.

More often, I just eat it straight out of the jar with a spoon. I do the same thing with frosting, eating it instead of putting it on a cake.
