Get something that's good on gas, I had a 1988 Mustang GT for my first car, it was fun but it was almost always parked in the driveway because I couldn't keep gas in it. How fun is that? Good luck in your seach.

You may not have enough for a brand new car so just try to find the best used car you can for the cash you have. Don't finance anything and you should be okay, you can still find a decent used car for $5000. Have it checked by a mechanic or a family member who knows something about cars.

Beleive me ,I speak from experience. Don't worry about style or looks. Get a car that will get you from Point A to Point B.Also when you get the car,go to your local auto parts store and get an instruction booklet about your car so you know how it works.

You should get a volvo, they are very dependable, and almost never break down, i've had mine for 10 years, and it's only broken down once. Any model is good.
