I have a eMac Power PC G4 w/256 MB of memory. Can I install another RAM stick or replace the existing RAM stick with one w/more memory? Is it as easy to do as it is in a PC? Do I need to look for a special brand or type such as DDR?

Find the right RAM for your PC at http://www.crucial. com.

Look for a tutorial, while you're there. APPLE RAM is very expensive and is functionally the same as Crucial's.

Open the case and install it. It's easy.

pass with a mac laptop. the hot OS X "Leopard" can do way extra advantageous than vista anyhow, and there are video games available for mac. Oct. twenty 6th i'm making plans on identifying to purchase the hot iMac for $1199 if it comes pre put in wth leopard. anyhow, a mac is plenty extra reliable than a pc, i take advantage of them the two interior the same day (macs in college, my laptop at domicile) and that i admire mac with the aid of fact the OS isn't a POS. domicile windows freezes continuously and continuously is susceptible to viruses that would even destroy your stressful force. Mac's are based on the unix OS, a single kernel working device, which makes them plenty much less susceptible. in case you think of approximately it, mac is a extra appropriate purchase than laptop, particular it fee a sprint extra advantageous than a pc, yet interior the top it would even out. purchase a webcam, anti virus, in all probability spend money repairing stupid errors on your laptop, upload some desent application and you in all probability spent extra advantageous than that on a pc, once you're able to have in simple terms offered a mac. And the OS will take some day to benefit if that, it particularly is plenty much less complicated to function than a pc. And apple has a help menu interior the menu bar that has laptop to Mac translations (all courses=macintosh hd, etc.)

If by "as easy as I could with my PC" you do it yourself, then yeah sure, but if you're a new Mac user I wouldn't recommend it. Static electricity and seriously mess up a computer if you touch something you shouldn't be touching.

I would do one of two things:

1) Bring your eMac to your nearest licensed Apple retailer, and get them to do it for you.

2) Bring your eMac to your nearest licensed Apple retailer, and get then to show you how to do it yourself. Then buy the RAM from their biggest competitor XD

You need to get RAM chip made specifically for your model Mac. Macs are picky about RAM. The are supposed to be easy to install, read your manual on how to or go to macsales.com or ifixit.com and look for tutorials on how to install/replace RAM for your Mac.

I'm no expert but from what I've told, you can't no.
Apparently the deal with Macs is that they don't upgrade because they are systems that last longer than PC's without an upgrade. I'm sure it's possible somehow though, right?
