I assume (and hope for your own sake and sanity), that you are using a Linksys brand router. Go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections. Right click on your wireless connection, hit disable. Now, hook an ethernet cable in between your computer and one of the four ports on the router. Under network connections still, enable the local area connection. Windows should do the rest.

Connect an Ethernet cable from your laptop to your router. Windows should find it and use it.
