I've looked and there's not a concrete slab as a base on the two or three 4*4's that seem to be sinking.

Jack it up slowly, like an inch over a week, until you get it level then dig out around the 4x4s and backfill w/quickcrete. Or you can jack it up as i wrote and place some good solid concrete footers on the ground and buy some jack stands. Place the jack stands on the footers then remove the jack you used to level the deck and let it rest on the stands.

the problem you have is not knowing how dip the posts are, first dig down along side of one post to find out and if its to deep too get concrete under the post you will need to dig a hole around the post 2 feet down, buy 8 lag screws per post 3" long and min 1/2" dia. and screw 2 in each side of the post leaving about 1" sticking out, put them into the post below ground level, this will secure your post in the cement and prevent you have to repeat levelling your deck down the road. Dig all the holes before you start jacking, this will help from tearing the posts from the deck. Hope this helps :)

in building a deck that connects to the house use a leadger board lag bolted to the house any fence or deck company can help ( ground should slop away from the house at least 6in in 10ft if water is running to the house it will soften the ground or even cause foundation problems with the house)

Sounds like the ground wasn't settled when they built it, Patricks and lostin's answers before mine is a good one.

When I had mine built they told me that it takes 2 - 3 years for the ground to settle after digging it up and that things like decks will move as the ground settles.

well I alway burring my posts with cement in bottom hole. You can jack up low part till good then dig around and under post as dep as possible . Then pour cement in hole to bottom post . Let jacks down and good to go.

This is common I fix allot of these where they just get block and set post on it. If you bury post it will be more stable .. Good luck
