Since we are put in a hermetically sealed coffin nothing can get in our out so where does it go?

It becomes potential energy. Har har.

BTW, energy is not matter so it does not occupy space and you can't lock it up in the first place.

It depends on what energy you're talking about. There is heat, and as the body cools, heat leaves the body and goes into the surroundings. Other forms of energy leave the body as heat as well. The various substances, proteins, fats, and other chemicals, are absorbed by bacteria and other organisms, and used to fuel their life processes. In this sense, energy is derived from the components of the body.

Even in a hermetically sealed coffin, decay occurs, albeit very slowly. The heat I was talking about earlier can escape, as heat can slowly escape a thermos.

The idea of corpses preserved in boxes in the ground disturbs me a little. I'd rather let my body just rot after I die, after any of my useful organs are removed, at least.

It stays in the coffin in the form of matter. Energy and matter are the same thing in a different form.

Unless the coffin is truly totally sealed though, some of the energy will leak out over the years.

Intact bodies have been found frozen and they still have their energy.

it is for the worms and bacteria to eat and your energy is passed through the food chain
