A melody I heard long ago. I once knew the name, but I have forgotten it.

It is a classical piece, more properly considered "light classic" or "pop classical". It was used as theme music for a soap opera in the '40s, so it is not modern. I heard it once several years ago on the classical music station.

I have found it! Is is from a ballet "Harlequinade" by the Italian composer Riccardo Drigo. Is is called
"Notturno d'amore"

It was first performed in St Petersburg in 1900.

Of course it is NOT Clair de Lune. This one does not even sound classical, sounds like a theme from a romantic modern song ;)
