You could check on the Manufacturer of the printer's website for drivers and software for the printer.

If you have Windows XP, most drivers are already in the computer making the printer 'plug & play'.
Try just pluging the printer in, wait for a popup saying "New Hardware Found" followed by a popup saying "New Hardward Installed and Ready To Use".
If the computer needs a disk, you will get a message saying so.

Yes there IS a way.

GO to the manufacturer's website and find the support/download center. Look for drivers. Just enter your model number and download the appropriate software for your printer.
REMEMBER:
If you have an HP printer, you MUST install the drivers BEFORE you plug in the printer.
Good luck.

The website of the printer manufacturer will have the drivers available for you to download. Go to Canon.com (or whatever.com) and click on support and find the drivers for your printer.

If it is USB and you have Windows, it will hunt for a driver - otherwise follow the first two answers.
