All restaurants in my area are non-smoking. I don't go around "telling" on people, because I'm an adult, but if somebody fired up a cigarette in one of these restaurants, I wouldn't have to say anything at all. It would be blatantly obvious. The offending party would likely be thrown out if they didn't extinguish the cigarette immediately, and if the restaurant owners pursued the matter, the smoker might also end up having to pay a fine.

I admit I do get a little annoyed, especially if the restaurant is only for non smokers; but I wouldn't create a fuss or tell on the person smoking. Now, if they were sitting right next to me, and the smoke was getting in my face and food, I would definitely complain.

Hasn't happened here yet. Since December, all restaurants in Ohio have been non-smoking.
It wouldn't really bother me, though; when there was a smoking section I always asked to be seated there (even though I don't smoke) just because it was never crowded like the non-smoking section.

I never ran into that situation yet.
Every place I dine, the people have respected the No Smoking
policy.

I've never had that problem yet, but I think I would mention something to the waiter. That's against law, right?
