Classical music with the lowest bass is organ music. The organ can sound lower than any other instrument, down to 20Hz (32-ft pipe). During the glory days of high fidelity sound (50's and 60's) the Poulenc concerto for organ, strings and tympani was often used as a demo piece--at one point there is a solo organ note at 20Hz. Also, Saint-Saens symphony no 3 ("Organ") has some good low notes.

Bach's Organ music has a lot of bass in it. Also try Beethoven's Symphony No. 5. And in the same composer's 9th symphony, IV mvmt, the cellos actually enter with the melody first....very haunting effect.

One of my favorite pieces, and one I bet you would really enjoy, is Mozart's Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra, K.191. Mozart wrote this piece in 1774, when he was 18. This is his earliest concerto featuring a wind instrument, and it clearly ranks among Mozart's long list of masterpieces.
Although the bassoon can play some very low notes, it's evident that Mozart fully understood all of the virtues and characteristics of this instrument. He manages to spotlight all of them in this piece, particularly the bassoon's agility, its range, and its ability to step quickly from the highest to its lowest notes in its register.
I'd be totally amazed if you aren't immediately "grabbed" by this concerto!

bartok music for strings, percussion & celesta,,,,,music for two pianos & orchestra,,,,,,,vinyl lp has nice dialogue between bass and piano,,,,,,,33 rpm columbia recordings catch it real good.if cds were cut at correct speed, and your system is good,it'l show up,,,,,cd reissues sometimes have faster playback soes marketeers can pack more music and make more money, means recordings heard are 2 or 3 whole notes above key intended by composer, and conscientous producers
