Not as long as their is oil to be pulled out of there!!

What is this? It sounds like a blueprint for a long-term presence in Iraq to me. Train the Iraqi's! Yea right. Private contractors are doing that! You mean guard "our" oil!

I LOVED this line: "The president needs bipartisan support if the United States is to sustain a long-term position in Iraq," said Sen. Lamar Alexander.

WASHINGTON - Several Republican senators Tuesday called for
President Bush to implement a new war strategy based on recommendations by the
Study Group, which advocated winding down the U.S. combat mission.

"The president needs bipartisan support if the United States is to sustain a long-term position in Iraq," said Sen. Lamar Alexander (news, bio, voting record), R-Tenn.
The message that must be sent to the president is, "Let's see if we can agree on an entire approach so you can have the kind of support you need," he said……..

If certain steps were taken, most troops could come home by early 2008 and a smaller contingent of forces could stay to support the Iraqis and strike al-Qaida targets, the panel said.

Hamilton said in a phone interview last week that he was not surprised by the recent warming in Washington to the study group's recommendations.
"If you're going to get out of Iraq, you have to make the primary mission training the Iraqis," he said."

We don't need a long term position. We have been in Korea since 1953!

If the Oil Companies want "their" oil guarded, tell them to hire an army! They can afford it!

Nope. We will establish an outpost similar to Germany and Japan. Have you seen the plans for the Embassy?

It's not a big secret from us "peasants" LOL. It just requires taking it in spoonfuls, because of the enormity of it.

I'm sure that when FDR set out to conquer Nazi Germany, he would have met resistance if he said, "We're establishing outposts in Germany and Japan and we will man them FOREVER." Grow up, kiddies. This is our country we are talking about, and it is still the best place on earth. If you would rather live somewhere else, we won't stop you.

We will never leave Iraq. Future American families will be living in military bases, while American oil companies suck out the oil and all profits go back to the U.S.

I haven't really seen any real plan from any of the Presidential candidates for what to do with Iraq. Just "leaving" is not a good enough plan. There has to be something there to deal with consequences. I actually think a good plan would be to do a "shock and awe" air attack on Iran. I think that would help out alot.

sadly i think we will always be there in the end probably not as many as now but enough to keep peace there. i think by 2010 we should be out of there but who knows and the mystery to why we were there in the first place will never be solved.

Your plans are unknown to you peasants of the population. The plans for your country are made by people you can only dream of having a truthful conversation with. So please don't ask your fellow country men and women if they have any idea what holds for the future of America and expect any of them to answer with anything other than I wish I knew.
