Definitely the NFL. You can actually see results coming from the new commissioner in the NFL.

When it comes to advertising i'd say the NFL, i cant remember the last advertisement ive seen with a basball player other then Derek Jeter. But i see Tom Brady, LT, and especially Peyton Manning in commercials and magazine ads all the time. However i dont have much to say on rules or penalties in the MLB mostly cause i devot much more time to the NFL. Which is very strict in enforcing rules, the steroid issue that rocked baseball was quickly sqaushed under the rule of Tagliabue, and Goodell is bringing his fist down with off the field behavior of players. But, when it comes to the treatment of players baseball rules all, the MLB players union has a ludicrous amount of power and those players get way to much money and all their money is garunteed, which means even if their traded or cut they still get payed by whatever team they signed a contract with, thats not even close to how it works in the NFL. The NFL is also a much more competitive league, making it much more exciting to follow. Teams can dominate the league for years in baseball, but because of the salery cap in the NFL, the league is almost always competitive. The NFL is also getting bigger and making more money every year, the NFL is constantly looking to improve and make itself better, where as baseball (at least to me) seems to be content with where it is and doesnt seek improvement.

so in my opinion the NFL is the superior league

It's not even a contest at this point.

MLB owned the United States for many years but they fell flat on their face. Way too much power gained by the Players Union which led to numerous strikes, lockouts...etc...then Steroids Era came into play to bring the long-ball back and bring back fans but all it did was tarnish it's glorious history in the long run. They lost a huge fan base in younger fans who turned to Football and Basketball over the past 10-15 years. Not to mention the inequity of balance between the haves (Yankees, Mets, Braves, Red Sox...etc) and the have-nots (Royals, Marlins, Pirates..etc). Some teams have no chance to win every year. How fun is that for their fans?

A lot of people (myself included) see the Summer as the time to look ahead to NFL Training Camp rather than MLB pennant races (yawn).

NFL by far. Growing fan support, all around financially health teams. MLB will have to address profit sharing and salary caps in the very near future. The NFL has surpassed MLB as the national sport several years ago.

It is the best sport for the fans, and probably the worst sport for the players inasmuch as the contracts are not guaranteed like the other sports, only the signing bonuses.
It has a better, more far-reaching drug policy that actually has teeth, and it is the best now at ploicing it's off-field issues too.

The NFL is now a 12 month happening, and still leaves you wanting more...it is indeed America's passion as Howie Long put it!

NFL is definitely run better, no question.

Marketing and advertising is unparallel.
Rules change each year, allow replay, etc.
Treatment of current players is excellent, pension is suspect.

MLB
advertising is tough, due to games being played every night of the week.
penalties don't benefit either team, because game is not "timed".
treatment of players is suspect.

NBA is poorly run, advertising might as well be on Mtv, game is basically unwatchable, treatment of players is basically coddling. Foagies raising babies.

The NFL of course!!!!

Barry Bonds wouldnt even be close to Hank Aaron if he didnt get away with steroids. And last year with Paul Tagliabue as the NFL's commissioner, Shawne Merriman got suspended 4 games for performance enhancing drugs. The new NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, has already suspended players for disorderly conduct detrimental to the league.

Bud Selig, however leaves all the suspensions to the umps and you nvr even hear of him unless you hear abvout steroids.
