Tell your dad that you #^@&ed up, and don't compound the damage by #^@&ing up everything under the hood.

Wow, what where you thinking? His 67 Mustang??

The damage is done. You need to see if you are getting fuel and spark. You can open the hood and grab the linkage to the carb and pull it wide open. You should be able to smell gas if you are getting gas. If you have a spare plug, you can unhook a plug wire and connect it to the spare plug and ground the base of the plug and try and turn the engne over a few times and see if you have spark. If you have spark and fuel, then it may be possible that you have flooded the engine trying to start it. You can hold the gas pedal to the floor and crank the engine until it tries to fire. good luck to you. I just hope Dad doesn't catch you, or you'll be walking for a few years.

Check the points. with the ignition on and the car in park, or park brake on, turn the rotor back and forth to see if you have a spark jumping. Look at the rotor. If it has a black spot on top or inside (take it off the shaft) replace the rotor. With the rotor up out of the way turn over the engine and see if the rotor is turning. If it isn't, you either stripped the gear on the bottom of the distributor or you jumped time. Does it seem to be turning over real fast? Timing chain time! If it is turning, put the cap back on and make sure the coil wire is in the cap. The coil and / the coil wire can be bad.
No matter what, you are going to have to offer to help with or pay for repairs.

Take of the carb, and pour a little gas in it. Hopefully it will fire. If it is a Manual have someone give you a push and it will start right up.

If you ran the tank dry, you might have to change the fuel filter. And of course check for spark with a spark tester (below)

If you left the ignition on you may have burned up the points.

Joy riding in a Classic Stang?
Bad, bad, bad, boy......

Pour a little, and I mean LITTLE (dribble-dribble) gas in the carburetor to get the engine to start back up.

It the car hasn't been running for a while the battery might not be fully charged. Try getting somebody with jumper cables to start it.

It sounds like you are not getting fire. Check the plugs and wires. Best wishes!!!
