1995 LT1, no major mods

over the course of the last few weeks, my car only starts half of the time. when i try to start it, there is no hesitation, no noises whatsoever, almost like the battery is completely dead. the other day, i started it up fine, drove about 3 houses down, and it completely shut off. again, no hesitation, no noises at all. thank god it was only a few houses down. the car wouldnt start for the rest of the day. just for giggles, i tried starting it up yesterday, and it started BEAUTIFULLY.

what would cause it to start only half of the time, die out, and do all of this with no noise. i have a newer battery and starter, and just got new spark plugs. maybe vats or mas?

Check battery cable and posts on battery. If corroded, this could cause intermittent operation. Also, the starter solenoid could be bad. I don't know if, on your car, it is a separate item or built into the starter.

Check the distributor. If the pole piece doesn't have a broken wire change the module.

Have someone put it on the computer and diagnose the problem correctly. Otherwise, you are going to continue guessing and your wallet is going to grow lighter. Hope you find the solution soon!!! Best wishes!!!

Sounds like your ignition switch has crapped out. Bad news because they aren't cheap.
