51 Chevy Tranny in 48 Chevy?

Want to up grade tranny in my 48 Chevy coupe found tranny out of 51 but it's 2" longer then the 48 tranny is there anyway to shorten the univeral joint sleeve yoke and the end of drive shaft or should I just change the rear end too?

you can have the shaft shortened at any maching shop or driveline shop.

Just have the driveshaft shortened 2 inches. That should solve the problem. good luck
