It is a good idea to have an alignment with new tires...it will keep the new tires from prematurely wearing.

How old is the car? Have you run over any parking curb's? Have you run through many pot holes? Have you had any of the front end parts replaced like tie rod ends or idler arms? Most times you don't need to get an alignment when you get new tire's. First check the old ones and see if there is any wear that seems extreme and then that will tell you if you need a front or rear alignment! If you don't know what to look for then go to your local auto parts store and get a book on your model of car and it will have pictures of what to look for in the wear on tires and what causes it and go from there! Sometimes you will get a broken belt in your tire from running through a pot hole and it will shake going down the road and wear unevenly so get a book to be sure!

If you buy a full set of 4, some tire dealers do offer a *free* alignment check. But beware; if you are having them changed only because they were worn and weather checked they shouldn't find anything wrong with the alignment. If one or both of the front tires were wearing crooked (thinner on one side than the other) an alignment check could find something worn out or needing readjustment.

you dont need to get an alignment BUT it is as if your car is rolling down the road pigen toed. Speed bumps curbs or potholes cause the front end of your car to come out of align and wear the edges of your tires out cause they are not rolling stright. With the new cars now a days the rear can come out of alignment if your car has a independant rear suspension it may need aligning also. An alignmet will make your tires wear longer. BUT an alignment can be thrown off just by driving out the the shop and going off a curb or pothole. You got to watch out where and how you drive. Alignment recommeded Most places will check it for free and it is your option to have it done or not

You absolutely DO need an alignment if you get four new tires. The alignment is greatly affected by getting new tires because of how each individual tire sits differently on each rim, and if one is off even a small bit, it can effect the entire vehicle.
Here's the cavate though, a good quality tire dealer will rotate your tires for free and will often discount the cost of the alignment or offer it for free.
I hope that helps. Good luck.

If their was no indication, outside of normal tire wear, and the tires are the same size, I would not do the alignment. This has worked for me since 1946. I check my air pressure once a month and rotate my tires every 5000 miles.

if your old tires were wearing good all the way across the tire evenly and when you go down the road and let go of the steering wheel the car keeps going straight your alignment is good but if you want to be on the safe side I would get it aligned.

I always have gotten an alignment, and had the new tires balanced when I got them. I want the new tires to last as long as possible.
A good way to make tires last, is to always check the air pressure and rotate the tires every several thousand miles. You will get a lot longer service out of them. Good luck

Yes. For two reasons. You want the tires to last as long as possible, and some dealers will not guarantee the tires unless the alignment is done.

If you get the same size tires, you do NOT need an alignment.
