So, I work for this market research company doing phone crap, right? And I've been there two weeks and the quality people are telling me I'm doing a great job and that I have a future there. I sound good on the phone and save for a little hesitancy I have a great delivery. So today, I was talking in between calls to my neighbors and I usually don't do this, but we were talking about...oh why lie? We were shooting the s--t. and I get called in the office and the girl tells me that I hung up on respondents and I'd get sent home...now this I didn't have a problem with, but then she goes into how my productivity isn't high and the job isn't for everyone and other BS about how they thought I would step it up...when they said nothing but good things about me before...and then they told me to wait until Mon and I don't get a call from my staffing agency just come in....I'm thinking of quitting 'cause I don't think it's cool that they're threatning with my job over one mistake. Thoughts?

Well, it's not so much I don't want to conform to policy or step up performance, but they told me before I was doing a good job and not because of this one boo-boo, they toss it all in the garbage and make me out to be a shi--y employee. Such bullshit!

Sometimes, even though it doesn't seem like a big deal to you, one mistake is something serious to your employers. They are paying you to do a job and if you aren't doing it properly, they lose money.

It could be that they have very high standards. If you aren't willing to conform to the standards, then find a job that doesn't require as much out of you, but if you want to step up your performance, then do it.
