I think they are talking about this, ‘universal consciousness’. Through our evolution we gained a foothold into this consciousness. (We are a very small part of this ‘universal consciousness’.)
We are disparate of what was before there were humans.
When they talk about our conscious creating reality; you first have to look at the definition of reality (in the philosophical sense).
The philosophical definition of reality is the independent objective existence.
For something to be independent of the individual or the mind; meaning ‘consciousness’.
I think they are saying that their ‘personal’ consciousness, which is irrevocably in touch with the ‘universal consciousness’; helps them manifest ‘things’ (events, thoughts, emotions, beliefs, patterns…etc…)
And I think they are talking about the reality NOW, not before there were humans. That would be implausible.

Don't worry -- as you can see people still read it. I assume you are referring to Jung's concept. It's an interesting idea, that we could be creating or re-creating reality (or whatever it is we perceive as reality), but even if it is so, how do we get ouside of our consciousness to confirm if it is true? That's the problem in this philosophical line. Naturally, there will be those who will point out that we must have had something to create us so we could even have a collective consciousness, and while that's also an interesting one it's not the point of your question... There are studies now & new opinions by scientists that there is no such thing as objective observation, that consciouness does impact all studies. Have you ever noticed that anytime they went to look for a new subatomic particle they found it. I do not believe they are saying that we actually are creating reality, rather this place we think is reality, & that what we see, hear, feel, smell, etc may not exactly be reality, rather our projection of it. Try reading a book titled, " The Holographic Universe". The consciouness they are talking about is a collective consciouness on a level we are not consciously aware of. Thank you for a interesting question.

Human consciousness can be considered to be individual consciousness. Individual consciousness is steeped in duality, or the feeling of separation from universal consciousness. Universal consciousness, or manifest consciousness implies everything in existence. By everything I mean from the smallest cell to the largest mammal, from the most infinitesimal grain of sand to the largest mountain, from the seed to the mighty tree, etc... Human consciousness is unified in the universal consciousness and is not different. It is perceived to be different and consciousness should not be confused with the mind. Because of consciousness the mind exists which holds the "I thought" or "me" thought, creating a feeling of separation from the source. This separation is illusory in nature. To understand consciousness the false identification of "me" must be dropped in order to have the highest knowledge.

With consciousness we can not prove anything including a created or imagined reality and without consciousness Ditto, we can not prove anything including created or imagined reality . How do we explain what we can not prove? The question is moot.
Consciousness outside the realm of humanity is unlimited and unknowable at least until the universe stops expanding and we master the speed of light..

Consciousness has existed long before humans. Who's to say were the first or the last. Humans are just vessels, temples that house spirits. Be careful what you manifest, we create or own reality.

First, there are those who would argue the existence of anything outside - or before - human consciousness.
Second, there are those who would argue that reality is individually experienced, by an individual consciousness.

I do presently believe consciousness creates and sustains reality (the universe at least). I do not believe my consciousness creates reality though as I recognize there are consciousnesses superior to mine (human and other wise).I subordinate my consciousness to whatever consciousness created and sustains what I dimly perceive as reality.

Uh, dude, they mean a subjective reality---not physical reality. You know, the conception of the universe you have between your ears?
The statement should say: Our consciousness creates OUR reality. Otherwise, when someone dies reality is at risk of vanishing.

If one truly believes that reality (or the illusion thereof) derives from one's own consciousness, the concept of preexisting reality is a nonsensical one: It didn't exist, and if it did, I can never know of it. When one closes one's eyes, outside reality ceases to have any significance.
