Basically, my taillights are not working. It's not the fuse or the bulbs, so I don't think this is something I can fix myself. I live near St. Louis, MO. As my parents have recently taken their car to an electrician who just messed it up worse, any advice on finding someone who knows what their doing (and who won't charge too much) would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

5 or 10 minutes with a test light is all thats needed to figure that one out, in most cases. But I would call the dealership that handles your type car, and ask the service writer who is the best electrical tech in the shop. They'll know, trust me. Then call back later and have the tech paged, and see if he/she wouldn't mind looking at it on the side for you. If they do, they will normally charge less than half of the normal dealer rate, and they make money and you save money. The dealership tech will be by far the best at any electrical concerns, as they work on nothing but your type car. Very likely he/she will find the trouble in minutes, and likely wont cost much at all. The only draw back, is that you may have to leave your car all day untill they can get to it. Like on lunch break or after work.
Just a thought, as I do it all the time for friends/family/other techs at my dealer.

These shops are owned or staffed by members of the International Automobile Technician's Network (IATN) which has highly respected professional technicians. They have access to a large repair data base of automobile problems specific to the car you own (just like the dealer does). First find a shop convenient to you and then ask them if they do the electrical work you need for your car manufacturer.

Go to an Automotive Electrical Shop and let them fix the problem.

Ask your friends and neighbors and see if they know anyone that they trust.
Personally I have had some bad experiences with getting my car fixed. Either they do a bad job or they overcharge...
