Even though I live in a rural area, I hardly run across it. When I do, it's more the silent avoidance type.

Fortunately, not very often. Sometimes it can cause an aukward moment. As very often I will not so much tell a person I am gay, but 'drop hints' What I mean by that is I will always be honest about my life, partner, etc So the 'penny will drop' in that person's own time. Therefore they might (for example) be saying something like 'so what does your wife/girlfriend do?' At which point I'll say 'My partner or My partner's name, does such and such.' Therefore not forcing the point, but at the same time not telling any lies. This way I can stay true to myself without making any political point about my life or sexuality. Then people don't tend to have a negative reaction as there is nothing directly threatnening about me or my life!

I'm pretty sure if you were to disclose the specific nature of the event rather than being so strangely vague and elusive, I would be able to more specifically respond to your strange rant. But instead, I would have to say that my answer would be entirely dependant upon what it was you were doing. Chewing gum? Picking your nose? Peeing in public? Come on, give us a clue, give us a clue! This reminds me of elementary school when kids would say to each other "THAT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!!!!" In response to your actual question question, I would have to say yes. I do hate it when I encounter those unfortunates who can't distinguish fact from opinon. I also hate it when I encounter someone who is really really vague yet wants a specific answer. Hee hee. Good luck, happy halloween.

Honestly, not that often. I'm a bit tomboyish/butch & just based on appearances alone people probably assume I'm gay. But I really don't encounter much hate based on my sexuality. Although the other night I was out with a couple of my friends (who are a lesbian couple) & as soon as we walked into this bar, a guy @ a nearby table audibly said "look, lesbians!" to his tablemates, as if we were some freaks that ran away from the circus or something. That wasn't very cool.

I live in a large city (in an area where thousands of gays live), so it's not bad here, but when I travel to smaller places, it can happen. Small-town attitudes and prejudice seem to go hand-in-hand, sadly. It doesn't help when people hear preachers such as Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson blaming gays for 9/11 -- that only incites more intolerance and added bigotry. People can be quite arrogant about their ignorance.

none for me...in fact, I have a multimillion dollar business based on the fact that I AM gay, have good taste, and people trust my taste. Thank heavens I AM gay...no one listens to a straight guy..not even their wives!

I dont encounter hate in my everyday life at all.
Im out at work.
Im out in public.
I dont live my life for others and... maybe... even more importantly... I dont ACT like Im living my life for others. Perhaps I dont make myself a "target."

Yup! I really don't want to get into detail about it too much, but it does happen. Not really as much as I'm sure it has to those older than me, but there are people who are still narrow out there!
