Well, you see, I may get a new dog soon. Well, I have two rooms right by each other, so the dog will use the room I never use. However, in my room, there's a bad smell. You see, when my old dog was a puppy, all he ever did was urinate on my carpet, and the smell of it has been stuck in there for years. I'm afraid the smell would either be unbearbale for my new dog, or he'd try to cover it up with his own, making even more of a stench.
We've already tried arm and hammer baking soda odor remover, but it didn't work. Is there anything that would get rid of the smell? I'm going to try Febreeze sometime.
I'de also love it if the product wasn't tested on animals.

I agree with Robert C. You have to replace the carpet....preferably not with carpet, but with something that would not hold odor and can be easily cleaned. If you do this you will not have to worry about the odor or residual effects of the urine... not only for the dogs sake but for your sake as well. Good luck!

Capet which has been previously urinated on by a pet will most assuredly be urinated on by a new one. The new dog will smell the urine of the previous pet and begin to urinate. You really should look into replacing the carpet. Urine will saturate the carpet, underlying pad, and can even cause damage or mold growth on the subfloor underneath. My recommendation would be to pull the carpet up, was with minimal water and a diluted bleach and then either place new carpet in the room or perhaps a laminate floor, linoleum or tile may be more affordable and will also prevent the new dog's urine from ruining new carpet. Good luck.

Use Approach. It's worked miracles with my dog Sophie. You can spray it in the air above you and let it scrub the air on the way down, spray the carpet, and even pour it onto old stains so it gets into the mat and completely eliminates the odor.

If your room is big i'd suggest getting a couple bottles and spraying all over the carpet, pouring onto every stain you find.

Should make things considerably nicer. :)

Good luck!

Your local Pet Store should carry a product called "Nature's Miracle." It's a safe natural enzyme that will actually remove any order. I've used it for years and it's worth every penny! It will work for you, and it does not harm carpet or material. Good luck and have fun with your new dog!

You really should look into buying new carpet for that room.
