For a long time, I used to try to argue with them. When I grew up, I realized that you're arguing with someone that already has their mind made up about the issue and until they're ready to listen, nothing will be settled. Lately, if I see that, that conversation is going that direction, I put my hand up, as if to say "stop" and then proceed to walk away. Don't waste your energy on them!

I always say, "hey, let's agree to disagree on this topic" and then try to move the conversation in a different direction. I don't like argumentative people and would rather just agree to disagree and not talk about it anymore.

Calmly, quietly, and persistently ask questions calculated to elicit the real reasons for the person's problem. If he or she is too angry or upset to focus on your questions, keep going back to them until an appropriate answer is forthcoming.

Once you learn what the problem is, you should be on the road to getting it resolved. Again, remain calm and persist until you get it resolved.

honestly I try to avoid them...the majority of the time people make fools of themselves & wasting their time by doing this thing called "arguing"....Noody ever wants to admit they are wrong & no matter how much you try you can't make a person change their opinion...
So what I am trying to say is arguing is non-sense & I steer away from argumentive people

I just agree with them and get away from them as soon as possible. If I am in a bad mood and feel like taking them on then it's ON!

I hope you mean in real life. I argue right back and with a quickness they step down. In the wonderful world of cyberspace, nothing...I don't care.

It doesn't do any good to argue back because it just ignites their pesonality. Best thing is to pick your choice of words very carefully and avoid them as best as possible.

what you gotta do is always de-escalate. talk softer than them when they're yelling, and talk slower. then they will sound even more out of hand and shrill and they'll think, why am I the only one yelling? I sound like an idiot! and then you win.
