Going to me Gran`s in the country ,with Grandad down the allotment, feeding the hens, collecting the eggs, digging up the spuds, picking peas, beans, gooseberry's,strawberry's,brambles, taking Roy the terrier ratting, bird nesting, playing in the woods, the tarzy ropes, watching for Roe deer and fawns, following the local hunt, sliding down the pit heaps on a shovel .Back home playing in the bombed out buildings, sore legs caused by welly`s,taking a tin or jar to school for cocoa powder,we were also given five boiled sweets and one apple,a gift from the USA .Going in the air raid shelters, building boagies with a plank and pram wheels ,I think i was lucky to have had such a happy time when i was a bairn .

I loved life as a kid, I had hard working parents who always gave us holidays and happy christmases. They were both very loving and were always there if we were scared about anything. I had 3 sisters at times could be cruel [but then again what brothers and sisters arn't]. My dad was very strict but we knew to respect them and our elders, and we never back chatted our parents. They were very fair and we all got treat the same, but never went without. Good food was always on the table,[mum was a great cook], dad was a long distance lorry driver and always fetched us stuff back from where he'd been. We sometimes went with him in the lorry, if it was school holidays.
Yes, I'd definately go back to relive this happy time. both my parent are no longer with us and I'd just like to thank them for such a happy childhood, Luv Ya both Mum and Dad.xx

Idyllic. Always able to run to mum and dad for love and protection and always knowing they were there to help in any way. We never had any money but always managed to get by with what little we had. My mum and dad ARE the best in the world and they made our childhoods magical. I am going to give my dad an extra special hug for father's day tomorrow!

Each day was an adventure !
