I'm interested in a car that's got them. They're so cool looking, but I don't want to get it if they are more trouble than regular tires.

usually 30 to 35,000 miles on those tires if your lucky as they have softer rubber in them for traction and handling.

That would be gross over-simplification. Speed rating much more than aspect ratio has a greater effect on tire wear. Low-aspect ratio tires do more often then not tend to have higher speed ratings of course. Still, in the last year or two a number of tires have been introduced offering mileage warranties of as much as 60,000 miles in very low profile and high speed rated (V, Y and W) sizes.

All tires usually have tire wear ratings on them as compared to a base test tire---check with a local or online tire store to see what ratings are for different low profile and standard tires---tire wear is basically higher or lower depending on the hardness of the rubber compound in the tire---harder lasts longer but has less traction than a softer compound which won't last as long.

The amount of tread on a L/P is the same as a regular tire, the height of the wall is the major difference. Some people feel L/P tires are a 'rougher' ride, others love them. It's basically your preference. Good luck in your car hunt!! :-)

Pot holes and curbs can dammage the wheels as for wear they last just as long.
