Homosexuality is legal. However, the way the Church bends over backwards, dare I say it, to support the liberal ethics of the time is nothing short of disgraceful. No wonder the CofE's congregations are dwindling. If the Church's view that homosexuality does not equate with their views they should opt out of the argument and carry on in their own sweet way. They certainly should not be making a thing of publicly appointing gay priest, bishops etc. Who cares anyway?

The government can't ban it as it is a legal right to be homosexual, even though some of us seriously disagree with it.
There are, however exemptions available from current legislation that mean that homosexuals can be excluded from certain service (i.e can be legally discriminated against) in certain circumstances, although these rights held by the church and other religious groups are under threat.

Tell you what. Why don't you tell me what GOD's plan for Hermaphrodites is! There are six distinct Sexual types, including a group of people who don't have any sexual drive at all. If a person can be born with both sexes, or a genetically identifiable male can be born with female characteristics how big a stretch is it to understand that a person can be genetically predisposed to be attracted to members of their own sex?
If a person can be identified as having a genetic predisposition, why would it ever be acceptable to discriminate against them? Should we go back to the bad old days when hermaphrodites had their organs surgically removed without their parents consent or knowledge? If the Church of England cannot embrace the world in all of it's diversity as it was created by GOD, maybe the government should ban the church!

The Church of England governing body is the appropriate people to deal with any issue concerning the internal rules of the Church of England. Whatever the subject.

It is not a Government matter. The Church has the responsibility to interpret God's laws on how he wishes His Church to be conducted. God looks upon the soul of mankind,; his heart, mind and actions. We all come under God's judgement no matter our sexuality. The Church should be all embracing, guiding in the truth and encouraging in the faith. The Bible does stipulate that practising homosexuals should not take a position of office in the Church, but does not state they should be excluded. I am sure there are plenty of people who are actively sinning in other ways that others do not pass judgement on. Sin is sin no matter what form it takes. A homosexual Christian (who lives to honour God) would be struggling with his conscience if he actively pursues same sex relationships, so who are we to heap condemnation upon those who have burdens we ourselves will never have to experience. Far better a loving Church environment where all feel accepted, no matter what, and where we can aspire to live righteously because we know He loves us and we are forgiven if we truly repent. God bless

Why do you want to see homosexuality banned from the Church of England? And why the government should participate in it?

OK here is something to consider: If the church considers Homosexuality a sin, and they are sinners, what is the best place for sinners? In the church listing to the sermon or in the bar getting drunk?
Then there is the "let he who is with out sin cast the first stone"
And not I'm not one! Just think it silly putting down someone for something they can not help. I personally believe they are born that way and can not help it no more than some one born with asthma can help it, or someone born blind can help it.

No but it should be banned by the church. God's law is higher than any other law. Homosexuals are free to visit any church but as long as they are practicing sin they should not be in church membership, especially when God is so adamant on this isuue.

I thought we'd successfully managed to leave legislation about sexual and religious preferences in the 50's. It seems like you're just a bit slow to catch on.
