Evolution is not true, in spite of what almost everybody says. It just doesn't make since if you think about it for a minute. It is just an excuse for people to disown that without God they would be nothing.

OK, first off, as has been stated by many above, humans did not come from monkeys. Of all other animal species on Earth today, humans and chimps (which are not monkeys, but apes, somewhat of a big difference there) share the most recent common ancestor. No, it probably wasn't a monkey, but it's safe to imply that it was a primate with no tail, binocular color vision, opposable thumbs, etc., listing off traits that chimps and humans share.
If we supposedly came from monkeys, then why are there still monkeys? Because (a) we didn't come from monkeys; (b) both humans and chimps evolved as separate species from all other apes and monkeys partially because we fill different niches in the environment, and therefore don't necessarily compete with each other to point of one or the others extinction; and (c) saying "if we supposedly came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?" is like saying "Since most Americans, Australians, and caucasian South Africans came from Europeans, why are there still Europeans?"

The "humans from monkeys" statement is the CARTOON version of evolution.
It is a ridiculous caricature of what evolution really says. No scientist believes that.
Why do creationists insist on repeating an absurd description of evolution? Because it makes it easier for them to call it absurd.
Why is this CARTOON "humans from monkeys" version absurd? ... because it leads to absurdities like the one you are pointing out.
Please just think about this for a second. Your question is based on the image that evolution means "one species replacing its ancestor species". If this were true, then *logically* there would be only one species on the planet!
So *obviously* scientists don't see evolution as a process of one species replacing its ancestor.
Instead, evolution includes the idea of *branching* ... one species branching into two or more species ... each one of which will evolve differently. How does this branching happen? Many, many ways ... a river cuts through a valley, a drought, a bad winter, a migration, climate change reducing livable areas to isolated patches, etc. etc. etc. In all cases, if a species population is split into two or more isolated populations, then evolution will cause them to diverge genetically, until they are unable to interbreed. At that point they are officially two different species. They are now *permanently* genetically isolated ... they can *never* again affect each other's genes.
So one population can go on to descend from the trees, evolve a voicebox, which expands the brain, until they go on to build iPods and the Internets, while the other goes on to stay in the trees, and enjoy life quite well munching berries and making babies.
Is that really so hard to understand?

With respect, the only slow learners are creationists. We share a common ancestor with monkeys, about 15 million years ago, And with other apes, about 10 million years ago.
Read Richard Dawkins "The Ancestor's Tale". It is a lot shorter than the Bible. And somewhat more logical.
When you asked this question, many similar questions would have come up in Y!A, making it obvious that this question has been asked many times before. Why didn't you just look up the answers to those, you would have found them very similar to the ones now being given.

Evolution is the gradual and slow change under specific conditions (by natural selection) to eventually cause enough changes in a group that we call it a separate species. The original ancestor is often "lost" or becomes extinct as it is usually outcompeated by these newer groups.
There was a group of individuals, quite a few million years ago (eg around 20 million years ago) and some of them due to changes in environment probably and changes in gene frequencies ( including mutations) began to change to look more like apes and others looked more like the monkeys of today....they were not the same as, like us and apes, monkeys have also evolved....this common ancestoe gradually died out....the same thing happened again and again over time so that apes and homonids branched off and then the 20 species or so of homonids that we know about branched off and died out over time to leave humans.....
Monkeys continued to adapt and evolve....they are tree dwellers, unlike homonids and some apes.....while we live on the ground and initially in savannahs.....
If we had that same common ancestor today, we and monkeys and apes would turn out differently......

The idea is humans did not 'come from' monkeys, but they shared a common ancestor from which they both evolved.
Evolution does not happen in one individual - there are just small changes happening in every generation. Eventually, some individuals became different enough to be the species of monkeys we know today, and others gained other differences which led to the humans we know today.

Pay attention people. We did not evolve from monkeys. Ever. Monkeys and humans evolved from a common ancestor millions of years ago which is why now we have both similarities and differences. That's what evolution does.

Monkeys- Have tails small Apes- Dont have tails extra suitable We stepped forward from previous international monkeys that are all extinct of path we and all the different apes alive at present are the alive descendants. additionally to evolve from the previous international monkeys have been the monkeys we see todays. So human beings, chimpanzees, gibbons and so on (apes) and new international monkeys the monkeys your quite often see at present the two sprung of in 2 distinctive procedures you spot we are no longer concerning to the hot international monkeys we proportion an ancestors an extremely long beforehand ok and that ancestor/ ancestors is extinct. additionally if human beings can stay to tell the tale why cant apes and monkeys. Like a kinfolk tree its no longer a million line right now down with one surviver a era there assorted offspring and it gets wider. You and your sibling are distinctive yet comparable/correct human beings yet got here from the comparable ascertain. like apes and monkeys got here from the comparable ancestor of the previous international monkey. Now apes and human beings. I say race is not any differnce yet heres an occasion. a white couple have a 2 toddlers the two toddlers each and every have 2 toddlers out of the 4 2 our mixed race 2 our white and those 4 have 2 each and every additionally 2 seem organic black 2 mixed race 4 white the two who seem organic black wont appear like the 4 organic white and the mixed race 2 will seem in between yet all of them proportion an ancestor all of them survived and not one of the 8 are an offspring of the different. know the way we are no longer descendants of any writer residing at present yet proportion a distinctive ancestors with apes. Monkeys stepped forward into apes whilst they got here down from a tree and gained evolution in a balancing devoid of the will of a tail issues no person is nicely-known with of made this alteration as no person replaced into there to work out. Our ape ancestor turnt into human beings in undemanding terms because of the fact they tailored to stroll then talk direct and undertaking resolve final got here lifestyle and those are the only adjustments from us and something of the animal kingdom all of us know this exceeded off however the question is what made it exceeded off what have been our ancestors doing and we will locate out.

Sigh.....
WE DID NOT COME FROM MONKEYS
We share a common ancestor with monkeys. This ancestor population split into two groups. One group evolved and split further to become humans, chimps and the other apes. The other evolved to become the monkeys and the other primates with tails. The two groups share genetic similarities, physical similarities but are completely different species.
Humans are one species, monkeys are a collection of others. One cannot reproduce with the other, we are reproductively isolated by the process of speciation.
We are related genetically, hence we coexist as they are not our ancestors.
sigh....

> Humans from Monkeys?
Yes.
> why are there still Monkeys?
We're descended from an isolated population of monkeys, with different selection pressures on our ancestors than on other monkey populations.
> Are the ones left just slow learners?
Not really. Ask yourself:
If Christians came from Jews, why are there still Jews?
Edit:
Most of the answerers above are saying we did not evolve from monkeys. They are wrong. If you had a picture of that common ancestor in front of you, you'd point at it and say, "That's an old world monkey, unidentified species." Moving closer in time, our common ancestor would be "unidentified species of lesser ape." Closer in time, and our ancestor is an "African great ape, but not a chimp or gorilla!"

We did not come from monkeys. Apes and humans evolved from a common ancenstor. Apes and monkeys are just as evolved as us, if not more.
