I think if My kids just took me out to coffee or a meal, that's all I would care to have as a gift because corny as it sounds, I would rather just spend time with them, than anything else. For those of you old enough to remember the Lyrics to "Cats in The Cradle," you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

For those too young to remember those lyrics, check and see if your parents have one of those old contraptions called a record player and then see if they have a black round disc about 5 times larger than a CD, with a label on it that says Harry Chapin and in the very center of the disc, will be a tiny hole. Ask yor parents to start up the record player and play that song for you... so u get my meaning.

If no record player, download the song onto your cmptr or mp3 player (my daughter told me to say that last sentence).

Any comments or opposing views welcome.

I know the song well! You are so right! It is the time and not the gifts which matter so much to us! Life is too short to just "let time slip away" without having special moments with those we love.

I agree it seems that just spending time with Dad is a whole lot better than anything you could buy him. When they are gone you will cherish the memories of time spent with them not gifts given to them..

Spending the day with his family is the best thing for him ...it gives him a lot of pride just sitting there and admiring his little ones.

a effective card, an eye fixed fixed along with his well-known group on it (my dad enjoyed that one), maybe some new techniques, and you may take him out to consume and provide him a huge cake that asserts: "happy Fathers Day!!"
