for those of you for banning smoking in public places because it effects your health.

why don't you ever mention the terrible effects of carbon dioxide from car exhaust.

Do you feel its easyier to atack individual rights rather than attacking the rights of corporations

why are you see selfish. thinking about your health rather than ALL of our health and the health of the world.

most people here are still stuck on defending non smoking and pretend that cars emissions are harmless.

yes. didn't people put themselves in a garage with a running car so that they could kill themselves quickly and painlessly? I don't smoke for instant suicide.

I used to make this point all the time, when I still smoked.

Who would you rather be locked in a room with? A smoker or a guy revving up an old V-8? Which one is gonna kill you first?

I still believe if Im walking down the street I should be able to sue everyone driving by in a car, or especially a big wasteful SUV or a Hummer.

Its only the non-smokers who attack cigarettes. Just like it is mostly people who live in New York, who really don't need cars, who attack car owners.

I am for more personal freedom and when a private establishment can't dictate whether or not smoking is allowed the government has gone too far.

I fully expect the Supreme court to overturn these smoking laws once a case gets to them.

I'm smoking right now, and I'm hurting no-one but myself. These bans are seriously harshing my gourd. I mean, banning smoking in bars? You've got to expect people to smoke in bars. I won't go to a bar I can't smoke in.

I think the best way to respond to these restrictions is to stop going to public buildings. Go buy booze and invite a bunch of fellow smokers over. Have a barbecue instead of going to a restaurant. And make sure you let your legislators know what you're doing. Enough of us quit going to Denny's, their businesses will be hurting so bad they'll be begging for the smokers to come back!

Smokers unite!

Last time I checked you weren't allowed to drive your car around inside buildings or on the sidewalks either. I think you can smoke pretty much anywhere you can run your car in most places. Where's the argument here?

You might have a point. I think the bigger issue is fossil fuels. Thats more likely to kill me in my life and effect the life my kids. I still don't want your smoke around me. In a confined place

I drive a Honda Insight. It gets 70 miles per gallon on the highway. It's an ultra low emission vehicle. My car is not a source of your complaint.

because cigarettes are a waste of money and it's easy just to tell people to save their money and help their health and other's health (secondhand smoke causes cancer almost just as much), but getting a car that doesn't pollute costs a lot more money and doesn't help people's health that much more. there's other ways to let up on pollution. We are trying to end pollution one thing at a time, starting with the cigarettes.plus i have already heard way too many people worrying about the pollution put out by cars. It's just El Nino that's making the weather wack.

That is why some states have very stick emmissions test before a vehicle can pass inspection.

If someone drove a car through my house, I would attack the driver - not the car.

Check the link below to see one reason why people shouldn't attack cars.

Your question represents one of the classic logical fallacies--the red herring. In other words they are two separate issues and tend to be discussed separately. For any of you that bought this line of "reasoning," I strongly recommend that you take a course in logic.
